The last 18 months have been challenging to say the least. In the UK, we're interacting less and worrying more - but there is light at the end of the tunnel as global vaccination programs are proving highly effective.
So what role has CBD played in the pandemic? Well, in 2020 the CBD market's total revenue expanded by 50% as the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis published a paper on the CBD landscape in the UK whom explained:
(on CBD) "it has reached a level of market penetration that is unlikely to dissipate, with consumption across age groups and classes, not just trendsetting millennials."
This is significant for the CBD in the UK - a more diverse customer base is starting to form and the market is starting to mature. It has been suggested that up to 60% of CBD users are those seeking to remedy their anxieties, closely followed by poor sleep and chronic pain.
From our perspective, Shake Organics saw a huge increase in enquiries on the efficacy of CBD for mental health problems such as anxiety and addiction. We definitely felt the overall public mood shifting to concern and precaution towards the latter half of our first year of trading, but were glad to play our part in helping people feel better.
The influence of CBD on the pandemic is not limited to mental health, however - one study at the Dental & Medical College of Georgia has shown that CBD reduces lung damage in COVID-19 patients through enabling an increase in the production of natural peptides.
